Arya Samaj, Chennai was established with the purpose of improving the lives of its members and general public through understanding the Vedic way of life. The D.A.V. Group, Chennai is one of the many initiatives being managed through this organisation.
The DAV movement originally began in Lahore in 1886, inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of Arya Samaj, whose vision was to build a knowledge-driven society based on Vedic principles. In 1970, the seeds of the DAV movement were sown in Chennai by dedicated visionaries, supported by a large community of well-wishers who generously contributed funds and resources, thereby paving the way for affordable high-quality education.
The first school was founded in Gopalapuram in 1970 with just fifty students under the embracing shade of a banyan tree. Today, 10 owned schools, 6 managed schools, 20 Academic Associates & 1 college collectively serving over 47,000 students stand testimony to the surging success of the DAV model.
